This is the world's largest online collection of found grocery lists. In fact, we wrote the book on found grocery lists. Why? Other peoples' grocery lists are fascinating. Plus, the internet is a great place to do  stupid  interesting things. So far 1,600 funny, crazy, weird, sad and/or mundane discarded scraps of paper have been posted. Have a look!

Nudity at the Grocery Store
"I was about to stroll through the door of my local Schnucks on Saturday afternoon to pick up a few groceries, when all of a sudden this nine-year-old kid comes bolting out the exit door with two Schnuck's employees in hot pursuit."

World's Largest Shopping List Collection
Hey, that's a lot of lists! Kicks my butt... "Jansen has collected shopping lists for a number of years. He currently has over 3,000 different shopping lists. After collecting a large amount, he contemplated what could be done with them, and on January 10th, 1999, Jansen started emailing a shopping list randomly selected from the collection to a group of friends every Sunday... You may ask, 'Why collect shopping lists?', 'Why post them on the web?', The answer: I don't know. Maybe it will give you a psychological view into the life of your fellow human beings, so, have fun looking at the shopping list sample, brought to you from the largest collection of shopping lists in the world."

Shopping list: wallpaper, lumber, a gallon of milk
"Home Depot Inc. on Monday confirmed a report in trade journal Oil Express that it's launching a pilot project in Nashville, Tenn., to test convenience stores in its parking lots."

Surprising Expiration Dates
"Certain items in your house practically scream 'toss me' when their prime has passed. That mysterious extra white layer on the Cheddar? A sure sign it needs to be put out of its misery. Chunky milk? Down the drain it goes. But what about that jar of olives or Maraschino cherries that has resided in your refrigerator since before the birth of your kindergartner? Or the innumerable nonedibles lurking deep within your cabinets and closets: stockpiled shampoo and toothpaste, seldom-used silver polish? How do you know when their primes have passed? With help from experts and product manufacturers, Real Simple has compiled a guide to expiration dates."

Shopping list leads to stardom
"Susan Bezuka may be TV's newest star. It started out as a regular Thursday morning for Bezuka of Conant Street. Armed with her mother-in-law, Alice Bezuka's, list, Sue Bezuka left the recuperating woman's Elliott Street home on June 9 and headed to Henry's Market in North Beverly to do her shopping. What Bezuka hadn't realized was that Cable TV's Food Network was filming at the market that day for a new TV segment called Feedback and they were looking for shoppers to interview... Customers who were interviewed had to be carrying a shopping list or, if not, they had to be able to tell a food joke. And, according to Keohane, about 20 or 25 folks were filmed that day."

Put your kids on kitchen patrol to keep summer meals healthy
"As the summer begins, schedule a weekly grocery shopping day just for them. Help them create a health-charged grocery list ahead of time. If there's any chance you can get them to sit with you while you compare their list to the new food pyramid at mypyramid.gov, by all means, engage them at the computer. Be consistent with the day and time you shop so they know what to expect."

High-tech shopping lists guide grocery shoppers
"Online grocery shopping makes it easy to get everything on your grocery list, but it's not likely to eliminate the grocery store outright.... Interactive devices remind customers of what they might need and provide specific personal promotions at the right time and place in the store."

Purchasing pros offer consumers some tips
"Getting the best value is a constant struggle. Few people know all the markets for various goods and services they buy, or are skilled at negotiating prices and reaping the best deal. So we turned to experts for help, courtesy of the Institute of Supply Management, the primary industry association for purchasing managers."

Grocery Errand Trips Up Barmes
"Clint Barmes went out to the grocery store and came home with a spot on the disabled list. The Colorado rookie shortstop is expected to sit out at least three months after breaking his left collarbone while carrying groceries up the stairs in his apartment building after a game Sunday night. 'Obviously, accidents happen,' said Barmes, a shortstop who is leading National League rookies in most offensive categories. 'It's very unfortunate for this to happen the way it did.'"

At your service
"In one day, Amy Miller may get the oil changed, water the plants, let the carpet cleaners in and pick up dinner. All this, and she still has her own life to worry about.Miller began At Your Service, a home-based errand business, in January. Her job is to make other people's lives easier by doing the things they sometimes don't have time for. Included in Miller's list of services are home waiting (for the cable company, carpet cleaners, etc), house- and pet-sitting, gathering information, delivery, household chores and projects."

Hassle-free shopping for home needs
"Of the many items on a typical grocery list, household products are often considered the most boring, so boring they are given to the help to buy. The monotonous routine generally calls for grabbing familiar items off the rack and thinking nothing of them afterwards."

'Shopping list' on Wikipedia
Hey! We're listed on Wikipedia, under the category Shopping List: "Collecting discarded shopping lists is a niche hobby."

Roman shopping list deciphered
"UK researchers have deciphered a Roman soldier's shopping list using the latest virtual technology. The discovery is part of a project by Oxford University researchers to identify the markings on hundreds of Roman letters, contracts and other documents found in the 1970s by excavators at Hadrian's wall -- the most important monument built by the Romans in Britain. The documents were originally written in wax on wooden tablets but after 2000 years, the wax has degraded and all that remains of many of the scripts are faint scratches in the pieces of wood."
